Senior Rally

May 21, 2018

The last rally of the year on May 4 was a throwback theme, perfect to bid a final farewell to the seniors of 2018. The rally began with a standout performance of the national anthem by Boy’s Choir and a moment of silence for Maya Evans, a 2017 graduate who passed away from leukemia on May 3. After the moment of remembrance, the festivities kicked off with performances from cheer, dance and hip hop.

Selected seniors put items representative of their favorite memories from their four years of high school in a time capsule. Valedictorian Scott Kim read his favorite verse from The Communist Manifesto, a book he vividly remembers reading in tenth grade with Mr. Holland’s AP Euro class. Captains from various sports teams put in items that were close to them or show their love for their sport, including a football helmet, jersey and a tennis ball. Students in WRTV, Journalism, ASB and Yearbook also participated in this activity, donating items that captured memories from some of their treasured times.

A special dance routine put on by our administrators and teachers accentuated the various references about old Disney Channel and Nickelodeon and earned smiles from everyone. The rally finished off with a heartfelt video WRTV made honoring all of the senior’s most iconic moments and memories.

Bon voyage, seniors. We wish you the best.

A special shout out goes out to all of journalism’s seniors: Min Ju, Kiana, Raylene, Erica, Sam, Bryce, Jared, Andy, Lauren, Sarah, Ga Min, Megan, and Alina; we’ll miss you.
