This morning on Nov. 14, a 16-year-old male student opened fire around 7:30 a.m. on Saugus High School’s campus. Two victims were fatally shot and four were wounded. This includes the gunman, who attempted suicide by shooting himself in the head, which failed. He remains alive and is in a hospital for immediate treatment.

After the call to emergency responders at 7:30, all schools in the William S. Hart School District were put on lockdown for security purposes. The district lockdown has since been lifted.

Our condolences go out to students and staff of Saugus High, the friends and family of the deceased, and hope everyone in our community is safe.
