Varsity Boys Basketball are Champs heading into Playoffs

Canyon, Golden Valley, Saugus, Valencia, and Hart. In a league with these tough teams, West Ranch proved to be the best by winning league. Although the Wildcats won the title last year, this one is more special because the ‘Cats were the only league champs. Last year, we shared with the title with Canyon.

After winning the team’s last season game on Senior Night, West Ranch clinched the title.

“I’ve been dreaming about this since my freshman year,” West Ranch’s well known center Ako Kaluna told the Signal, “To win the first championship is unbelievable.”

West Ranch would have had to share the title with Hart, but luckily, Hart could not close out their season and lost to Canyon. Ending 9-1, the Wildcats had the best record in the league.

Now the team is preparing for California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) playoffs. The team is training hard for the first game which is at West Ranch on Friday. Make sure to join the best student section in cheering on the Cats! West Ranch has been rewarded the third seed spot and believe that they have a true shot at the title.
