Our girls’ soccer team has played hard all season long, and their match against Valencia on Fri., Feb. 2 was no exception. After the Lady Cats nearly netted a goal early in the game, the first half was a defensive struggle between the two teams with neither side able to score. West Ranch played aggressively and was able to keep the ball mostly on their opponent’s side, and headed into the second half with momentum. While the second half continued the theme of the first, junior Allyson Snyder broke the tie with a long shot that would graze over the goalie’s hands to put the Wildcats up 1-0 with 28 minutes left. Valencia managed to re-tie the game with a closely contested goal at the 15-minute mark, and the Cats continued to remain aggressive. Ultimately, the game ended in a tie, as defense continued to prevail on both sides. Great effort Cats!
