Yesterday, the girls lacrosse team faced off against Royal High School and ended with a 10-9 win.  In the beginning, the Wildcats trailed their opponent 0-2. However, after the first goal by Sammy Nuchow, the Cats were able to get their spirit back and were able to tie up the game at 3.

The game continued on, with each team tying up the game whenever their opponent scored. Overall, both teams fought hard for every point. Nearing the end, the game was still tied and it seemed like both teams were going to end in a deadlock at 9. However, with less than 2 minutes left in the game, freshman Jackie Nuchow scored the winning goal, putting the Wildcats up 10-9. The Cats then strategically wasted the last minute of the clock by passing the ball around until the final buzzer sounded to ensure their victory.

“The team did phenomenal. Finally, everything that we worked on today came together. We have had a rough start to the year and I’m super happy with their performance today,” said head coach Leesa Chemlinak.

Jackie Nuchow and Bella Gervasi both ended the game with a 3-goal hat trick which were beneficial to the Cats in such a close win.

With the girls next game at Thousand Oaks this Saturday at 4:00, the team still has some things to work on.

“I think we need to work on out chemistry and kind of get comfortable with everyone on the team,” said captain Hope Jin.

Great game, Cats!
