On Fri. April 20, West Ranch Boys Lacrosse defeated St. John Bosco High School in overtime with a final score of 6-5. Demsher scored the sudden death goal to capture the win for the Cats on Senior Night.

“We played close to a complete game today,” said Coach Borsos. “We came up big in overtime for a victory on Senior Night and that was important for us. We’ve never lost on senior night so we wanted to keep it that way.”

With an opposing senior selected to play D1 lacrosse, the Wildcats focused on playing aggressive and staying competitive throughout the game. With neither team scoring in the first quarter, and a low scoring second quarter, the intensity picked up in the third and fourth. The Wildcats scored with three minutes left in the fourth quarter and as time ticked by, Coach Borsos made use of his timeouts to strategize with his team. With about 26 seconds on the clock, John Borsos scored. The game would go into overtime.

“We were thinking ‘get possession,’” said Coach Borsos. “That face-offer for the other team is really good. We just wanted to be really aggressive on the ground ball and win it. We were able to get the ball off possession and that was key for us in winning the game.”

It was a tough matchup, but the Cats pulled through with the win. An eventful game was followed by a ceremony for the graduating 10 seniors.

“The seniors bring good humor and hard work to this team,” said Coach Borsos. “Some of them I’m going to miss a lot more than others. They just have a lot of heart, and they bring it everyday, and I’m going to miss that about them.”
