West Ranch volleyball swept in tough loss to valencia

Noah Neri, Staff Writer

On Tuesday Sept. 12, West Ranch volleyball played against Valencia in a league game. Unfortunately, Valencia was able to get off to a fast start, keeping a lead of about three to five points the whole time to win the first set 20-25.

In the second set, the Wildcats were defeated again, losing badly 17-25. In the 3rd set, the Cats came out with lots of energy, taking an early lead of 15-11 due to some major hits by Allison Jacobs and Elena Sarieddine that appeared to shift the tide. However, just when it was looking up, Valencia shockingly battled back to tie the game to 21-21. From there, West Ranch was unable to maintain their lead and lost a hard-fought 3rd set 25-23.

After the game, Coach Jamey Ker had a couple of comments about how the team can improve.

“We didn’t pass that well, and we had a lot of unforced errors,” said Ker. “Limiting our unforced errors would’ve made us better.”

West Ranch volleyball is now 1-8 for the year. Come support the Cats as they try to turn their season around at their next home game against Saugus on Sept. 25.
