With winter getting closer and the weather barely frosty, finding fun ways to get into the festive spirit is important. Our very own SCV offers a variety of new places to check out during the holiday season.

Frosty’s Forest Christmas Trees

Winter comes with a variety of scents, from gingerbread to candy cane and, most importantly, pine. For those who are still looking for the perfect tree, Frosty’s Forest Christmas Trees located on Orchard Village Road is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Sophomore Amelia Barnes enthusiastically expressed her love for this season: “Ever since Halloween passed, I’ve only been thinking about decorating for winter. I can’t wait to go buy a tree, start gift wrapping and break out my hoodies.”

The four-acre farm offers a variety of photo opportunities, holiday music, free peppermint treats, hot cocoa and festive decorations dotted around the area. Wreaths, tree stands and firewood are also available to purchase in addition to your tree. Even our furry friends are welcome to join the exploration on the farm. Finding a tree is the most important part of the holiday season, and Frosty’s Forest is filled with both trees and a festive atmosphere.

DW Cookies

Baking sweets and treats are some of the most important parts of winter and the festive season. Putting out cookies for Santa is essential for a successful Christmas. Why not give Santa some gourmet cookies?

Sophomore Megan Lee, a regular customer at the bakery described her love for their cookies. “The DW cookie company owner and workers are super kind. Not to mention, their desserts are [good] quality and delicious, while also being affordable.”

DW Cookie Co., located in Soledad, Canyon Road specializes in warm, gourmet cookies and freshly-churned ice cream. The black-owned family bakery offers a constantly changing cookie selection, with seasonal favorites, classics and unique flavors including butterscotch toffee pecan.

“When fresh, they are super chewy, flavorful, and full of chocolate or other goodies. If you want to support small businesses while also getting yourself a treat,” Lee said, “I highly recommend their bakery. You can tell their cookies are one of a kind and made with care.”

The lovable bakery is ready for the Christmas season, so be sure to drop by and check out their cookies.

The Cube

With winter approaching, it is the perfect time of the year to go visit the newly renovated ice rink in our valley. The Cube reopened this spring and finally brought ice skating back to the public.

Sophomore Aaron Chun said, “I went recently to the ice rink, and I had a good time with my friends overall.”

Located directly in front of Valencia High School, The Cube is now also an entertainment spot as well as an ice rink with multiple exciting events coming up for the holidays.

Starting Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, until Christmas, the First Annual Christmas Tree Skate will be held during all public sessions. Beautiful holiday decorations will take the center ice of the rink.

On Dec. 11, 2021, the First Annual Holiday Show will be held, presenting the famous holiday story, Polar Express from 12:00 PM until 5:00 PM. Tickets may be purchased on their website. Our ice rink is a popular destination this winter, be sure to bring your friends and family to accompany you the next time you go.

The three mentioned spots are only a few of the countless entertainment and activities our town offers. So don’t be afraid to go and explore our beautiful town. Who knows? Maybe you will find a place just for you.
