As temperatures start to transition to sweater weather, Wildcats are ready for fall activities and trends. From autumn-themed drinks to seasonal events galore, it is time to make the most of the coming months.
Seasonal items and goods are extremely popular. Here at West Ranch, fall-themed foods are extremely well liked with students and staff. Whether it is a classic pumpkin spice latte or a caramel apple, these treats bring flavor and excitement to the cold season and are often looked forward to by students and staff alike. Expressing his enthusiasm for fall flavors, English Teacher Michael Smith said, “I would say I love pumpkin. When we come down to the fall, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin biscuits or the pumpkin drinks at Starbucks are really great.” Mr. Smith shared that autumn is a great time of year, and encouraged others to enjoy its seasonal foods.
Along with special food menus, seasonal change also includes physical shifts, such as the falling of leaves and cooling temperatures. Sophomore Katie Dang explained that her favorite part about autumn is getting to step on the dry leaves. She described how, “crunching leaves is enjoyable to me because it’s super satisfying, and I make it my mission to find a super crunchy one.” Dang said the fallen foliage is something she looks forward to each year.
Even with the myriad of activities, trends and foods, it is still hard to say goodbye to the warm weather and embrace the cooler temperatures of autumn and winter. Each year, Honors Geometry teacher Ingrid Riederer chooses to spend this time with her husband to bask in the remaining time of warmth, readying their goodbye to the hot summer days. When asked about one of her fall traditions, Mrs. Riederer shared, “Each year in the first week of October, I go to Lake Havasu to say goodbye to summer.”
As for the rest of us Wildcats, we should take the time to enjoy every aspect of the cooler weather, seasonal treats and events. From unique foods to fun activities this season holds a lot to look forward to each year!
