West Ranch High School hosted its “Incredibles”-themed homecoming on Sept. 12, 2025. This year’s dance was held at the Hyatt Regency in the heart of Valencia’s Town Center. With vibrant decorations, an electric dance floor and glowing red, black and gold accents inspired by the superhero theme, the night felt like something straight out of a movie.
The evening featured a fantastic homecoming court, with students cheering on the Homecoming King and Queen, Lucas Bibby and Victoria Hamilton. Leading up to the event and the coronation, the entire school enjoyed watching creative and heartfelt nominee videos during the Homecoming Rally, a true testament to the hard work of the students involved.
Each video featured two king and queen nominees dancing to a song. Senior Greyson Foster, the creator behind the nominee videos, reflected on the production experience: “A lot of it was from the actual song, kind of trying to theme it around that, but honestly, just having fun [around] what they want to do, and just amplifying their ideas and strengths on screen.”
As the creative process unfolded, Foster found that the experience was more than just about capturing the perfect shots. “I think the best part about creating the videos was just getting to hang out with some other seniors, [which] a lot of the time I don’t think I would have if I didn’t get to film,” he recalled. These videos sparked the excitement for the upcoming homecoming.
Even before Homecoming began, students had their own unique ways of getting ready. “I went to my friends’ to do finishing touches. We sang while doing our lip gloss and mascara,” Mridula Krishnan said. As a senior, singing Indian songs from her childhood with her friends as she got ready for her last Hoco heightened the bittersweet nostalgia of the night.
Senior Jadon Reyes took a slightly different approach. “I actually just walked out of the house like this,” he laughed. “I know, shocking. I pulled out a tie, and it was just there.”
When 7 pm rolled around, it was time for the real fun to begin. As the lights dimmed and the bass dropped, Hyatt’s dance floor quickly transformed into the night’s main attraction. The mosh pit, with its flashing lights and booming speakers, became the heart of the night.
“When I walked in, I took some pictures and went to the snack stand. After that, I basically partied in the mosh pit the whole time,” Freshman Logynne Cochran described. “It was really hype: a lot of the kids had a lot more energy than they usually do at school. So it was really fun,” she shared.
For many students, including first-timers like Cochran, the high-energy dance floor was unforgettable.
When asked to describe the night in three words, Cochran didn’t hesitate: “Hyped, fun, and loud.” For her first Homecoming, the experience exceeded all expectations. “I was looking forward to it, but it’s, like, over the bar of what I expected,” she said.
Freshmen were not the only ones caught up in the fun of the night. That same excitement was echoed by Krishnan, who, when asked about her favorite part of the night, simply yelled, “Moshing!”
With amazing energy, thoughtful details, and unforgettable memories, this year’s homecoming was truly incredible. “If I could tell my junior high self about tonight, I’d say: higher your expectations. This is going to be a great night. And always have fun,” Cochran emphasized.
