West Ranch Football Homecoming Game Versus Pacifica 9/10

Cody Martzke, Staff Writer

The West Ranch Football Team was stellar on Friday night, bringing home a huge 62-38 win against Pacifica. The Wildcats moved the ball with ease during the game, scoring within the first 40 seconds and racking up tons of big plays throughout the night. West Ranch dominated the first half, racing out to a 27-10 halftime lead. However, Pacifica came roaring out of halftime, shrinking the deficit to only three points in the third quarter, putting a lot of pressure on the Wildcats to bounce back. With the help of some big stops and electric runs, West Ranch bounced back, outscoring the Tritons 28-7 for the rest of the game.

The offensive explosion was fueled by West Ranch Quarterback Ryan Staub, who said, “The team played great tonight, I’m proud of the guys. We faced some adversity after halftime, but responded super well and brought it home.”

This was a massive win for the Wildcats over a Pacifica team that is less than two years removed from a CIF Division 2-A State title, bringing home a win for the homecoming game as an additional bonus.

This marked three straight for the Wildcats, after the opening game loss, and is one of many victories they’ll be celebrating this year.
