Spring Has Sprung

In the Spring Has Sprung event hosted by the Wildcat Resource Center on March 27th, students gathered to plant flowers and decorate pots. This was put together by Miss Tabitha, West Ranch’s social worker. As an event marking the beginning of spring, this was the perfect time for students to relax with their friends while celebrating the change in seasons. Upon entry, attendees were greeted with music and conversation as they approached the table with flowerpots, paint, dirt and seeds. Wildcats shared their excitement about the unique event.

“Miss Tabitha let us know that this was an event and we were interested because it’s not every day that you get to plant flowers at school,” junior Jay Belmonte shared. “It’s something nice to do rather than just sitting down and looking at my phone.”

Letting their creativity flow, participants expressed themselves in a variety of ways on their customized flower pots. “My favorite color is blue, so I went for an ocean theme,” Belmonte expressed. Other students had designs such as stripes, small images and spirals.

This event was just one example of the unique opportunities that the resource center has to offer. Sitting adjacent to the wellness room, the resource center is a valuable resource for students who need extra support, ranging from additional supplies to mental health assistance. “My role here on campus is to support students and families through any challenges they identify,” Miss Tabitha explained. “I do my best to provide support to help remove those barriers for them.” The extra accommodations provided by the resource center come in many forms, whether it be clothing items, school supplies, shoes, groceries or hygiene products.

“I love supporting students and families and hope to provide as much help as possible. If any student is in need, please have them visit Room 422,” Miss Tabitha concluded.

As the event drew to a close, students left with their personalized pots, carrying memories of a fun-filled afternoon with friends and getting creative. The event successfully showcased the Wildcat Resource Center’s dedication to making sure that all students feel supported and included.
